Who we are
Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust is a Not for Profit organisation serving the community since 1995. It was founded by Mr. Jeet Suchdev QSM JP and Ms. Roopa Suchdev QSM along with other likeminded people.
We are one of the largest multi-ethnic South Asian Group in the whole of Auckland with over 1000+ senior members on record Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust is a Not for Profit organisation serving the community since 1995. We offer a range of services to the community through our Senior Citizens Wing, Children & Youth Wing, New Migrants Support Wing and Social Services Wing. We work responsibly to ensure people of the community are benefited by fostering healthy relations among all the members and catering to the social, cultural and emotional needs of these groups especially young children, who hold the future for a better tomorrow.
We achieve them with continuous meetings and programs for a better reach among masses. These services are delivered with assistance from Members of Executive Committee of Bhartiya Samaj and Volunteers from the Community. We also work in co-operation with other Community Welfare organisations which are operating Auckland region. Our services are available free to the South Asian community irrespective of their language, religion, region and social status.

OUR SERVICES
Elder Support Program
Under our Senior Citizens wing, we have about 1000 + members subscribed to our services. As a regular service, every fortnight we organise a community meeting for the senior Citizens at Mt Roskill War memorial. Regular Fortnightly Meetings provides members from South Asian migrant communities a platform to engage with each other for lending mutual support, better learning, socializing and awareness.
Multicultural Playgroup
BSCT “Multicultural Playgroup” aims to provide a fun learning environment for your precious little ones and prepare them for their future. We aim to provide a place for parents and young children to meet on a regular basis and provide a range of educational activities to foster children’s learning and development consistent with the NZ ECE curriculum – Te Whariki. The playgroup provides a wide range of activities for mums along with kids and experiences in a bright and welcoming environment. Children are encouraged to play alongside and with each other, developing early social skills that are essential for later life. This helps in developing their self-esteem and gain confidence in their first independent steps from home.
We operate every Monday to Wednesday from 10:00am to 12:30pm and we are very pleased to welcome all the parents with children between 0-5 years to come and attend the activities. The entire learning experience is absolutely free of cost.
Language and Cultural Classes for Children
The Children and Youth Wing of Bhartiya Samaj runs regular free Language and Cultural Classes every Sunday between 10:30 am and 1:30pm to promote and retain the cultural heritage and values of our great motherland India. These classes are completely free and all teachers teach on voluntary basis. The hallmark of Balvikas Classes is that the programme is conducted under the guidance of Education Chairperson Ms Roopa Suchdev, by teachers who are very knowledgeable, sincere, devoted, and have tremendous commitment.
The main aim of the Balvikas is to foster character development, discipline and cultivation of humility, respect, core human values and selfless service. Children are encouraged and provided opportunities such as enacting in dramas, participating in singing, dancing, public-speaking and many more such activities so as to develop and gain self-confidence and attain excellence.
Annual Summer Camp
Each year we organize a Summer Camp for the Children and Youth of the Community which is aimed at promoting emotional development and enrichment of the young minds. The entire focus is on imparting skills like personality development, leadership, community involvement and tolerance/ understanding of multiple cultures and ethnicities, at an early age.
The five days at the Summer Camp are filled with fun activities and workshops related to arts, crafts, drama, yoga, life enrichment skills, developmental games and a full day outing. For the entire five days our volunteer teachers, trainers and coach’s come in at various times to devote their skills and knowledge for the development of the young minds.
Migrant Settlement and Support
Since time immemorial, people have taken great risks for themselves and future generations, leaving their countries behind in search of a better life. We know that settling into a new country and community is not always easy. It takes time to adjust to a new environment, culture or language.
Bhartiya Samaj Charitable Trust assists migrants with settling into their new life in the Auckland and surrounding region. We provide a variety of services to those who have just arrived, through to those who have been here for years but still experience difficulty navigating or accessing government services, education or employment. We strive to see migrants settled, and be an active part of the community.
We assist the new settlers in following manner:
- Regular workshops on Job search tips and Resume building
- Assisting in finding a good accommodation
- Induction to various rules, regulations and byelaws in NZ
- Assistance in access to social and health services
- Regular Skill Development Workshops
